Since March fans had been voting for their Greatest Ever Norwich players and a crowd of 3,500 turned up to celebrate the legends and enjoy music performances from Jamelia, Rhydian, Ray Quinn and Ben Mills. The event kicked off in fine style with tribute band Killer Queen opening the show with a medley of classic anthems that had players and crowd up on their feet.
Hosted by the BBC’s Jake Humphrey, the event was a major success with fans and legends equally enjoying the day.
Over 3000 fans voted for their Greatest Ever Norwich teams, managers, goal and moment. Of the 44 players and managers nominated for the fan vote, 27 were present at Carrow Road for the event, as well as a host of other former Norwich players. For some, this was the first time they had returned to Carrow Road since leaving as players. Many had travelled from overseas to attend.
Mixing musical performances with interviews with the legends, footage on the big screens and awards, proved to be a winning combination. Included in the schedule was a special tribute to departing Norwich hero Darren Huckerby.
