Media Fans To Host Event

TWO of the Canaries’ highest profile media fans are to host the Greatest Ever show at Carrow Road on Sunday, May 18.
The BBC’s Jake Humphrey, at 29, is the youngest ever presenter to host the hat-trick of BBC Sport programmes Football Focus, Match of the Day and Final Score. He recently presented the FA Women’s Cup Final for BBC One and will be presenting part of the BBC’s FA Cup coverage this Saturday.

Jake will be joined by BBC Radio Norfolk’s Chris Goreham. A local lad, Chris grew up in Attleborough and Spixworth and spent lots of time at Carrow Road. He started covering local football and cricket for BBC Radio Norfolk in 1998. After many years of getting up early to present the breakfast sports news, Chris now enjoys waking up at a more reasonable time of day, presenting the afternoon show between 2 and 5pm.

I grew up in Norwich. I love the area and the people are always up for a great party, which is how they should approach Sunday. It is great that so many ex-players want to come back to Norwich and it shows what a special club it is and the special place the club holds in their hearts.

As a Norwich fan it is a special honour to be asked to host the event and I am looking forward to meeting all of these legends.

I hope the weather is kind to us and that the fans turn out in their droves not just to thank Darren Huckerby for his sterling service but also to thank these other great players for the service they have given to the club over the years.

Chris took over from Roy Waller as the lead commentator for BBC Radio Norfolk’s live coverage of Norwich City matches and presents the drive time Scrimmage football programme every Thursday.

Chris is unashamedly proud of his Norwich City heritage. “My best moment as a Norwich fan would be applauding the team off at the San Siro after they had done us proud against Inter Milan in 1993.

“In my working life the best moment was getting on the open top bus with all the players, after they won the First Division in 2004, it was amazing. I was very lucky to get the chance to do that and the scenes in the city that day will live long in the memory,” he said.

Jake and Chris are taking over the presenting duties from Richard Keys who has been withdrawn from the event by Sky Television to fly to Russia to present the Champions League previews and final.
